Sedum are low growing, self regenerating and drought tolerant. Growth, leaf colour and flowering of individual varieties will vary according to the time of the year. Some varieties may go dormant (die back) in the Winter months. Sedum and succulent varieties can flower most months of the year.
Sedum are the most common plant varieties grown on extensive roof gardens throughout the world. Commonly known as the Stone Crop plant. A self-sustaining plant which re-establishes itself by seed or stem cuttings. They are drought tolerant and will withstand extremes in temperature and climatic conditions. Sedums will perform better than most other plants in the shallow, non irrigated, extensive greenroof garden situation.
Sedum are also known as CAM plants (Crassulacean acid metabolism). They will store and conserve water in their leaves for extended periods particularly during stressful climatic conditions. Then reduce water loss by only opening their stomata during the night and not during the day.
We are continually expanding the range of succulent plant varieties at our nursery. We are happy to establish other exotic or native plant species into the Flora-Mat. We may need to increase the depth of the extensive growing medium (which would increase the weight loading). Exotic or native plant species would most likely require regular irrigation after roof top installation. We can also establish a wider range or exotic or native plant species for either your extensive or intensive greenroof solution.

Ready for installation.
