Can we have a Green Roof installed on our commercial building roof?

Commercial building roof areas are one of the largest growing areas of installation. Here the architectural goal is in merging both indoor and outdoor spaces as one. The thermal insulation layer that is then created by the Flora-Mat greenroof mats will create all year round improvement of the climate inside and outside the building.

Sound insulation from a greenroof installation can reduce sound by up to 8 dB compared to a conventional roof system. Both the Frankfurt International airport and Schiphol airport in Amsterdam have adopted greenroof systems for the purpose of sound abatement.

Our Green Roof system could be installed as a retro–fit or used as part of the new design. No problem in installing the Flora-Mat on curved or sloping roof areas.

The largest commercial greenroof in the world is the Ford Rouge Centre in Michigan, USA using a lightweight Sedum mat system. The greenroof coverage area is 4.2 hectares. Small roof top areas such as a toilet block or even a bus shelter can all be covered with the Flora-Mat greenroof mat with great ease.

The Flora-Mat greenroof mat can be installed between railway tracks, traffic round abouts, or in any other outdoor landscape area where water supply and traditional plant growing conditions are a problem. The mat would also act as a ground weed suppressant.
