The Greenlink Flora-Mat System

A quick and simple 3 component system that uses a modular design guaranteeing easy roof top installation. The Flora-Mat System has been designed to be a light-weight solution (35 – 60 kg saturated weight loading per m2) for new and existing buildings (commercial and domestic).

The 3 Greenlink Flora-Mat System components:

1. Sedum plants

An established Flora-Mat greenroof mat will contain a selection of Sedum varieties and succulents. Sedum varieties are low growing, self regenerating and drought tolerant. Growth, leaf colour and flowering of individual varieties will vary according to the time of the year. Some varieties may go dormant (die back) in the Winter months. Sedum and succulent varieties can flower most months of the year.

2. Extensive growing medium

This needs to be of a lightweight nature. Natural top soil would be too heavy (particularly when wet) and commercial potting mix contains too much organic matter which will break down over time. The medium needs to be mainly inorganic but one that is porous and holds oxygen, water and absorbs and releases nutrients back to the plants while giving stability.

This extensive growing medium is ideal for Sedum and succulent establishment on the Flora-Mat greenroof mat system. There will be limited weed competition during the Summer months due to the hot dry conditions of the extensive medium.

3. Flora-Mat Greenroof Mat

The Flora-Mat is tried and tested and has covered roof tops throughout the Northern Hemisphere for more than 25 years. The Greenlink Flora-Mat is designed for Extensive roof top plantings, utilising a wide range of sedum, succulents and New Zealand native plants and grasses. As well as roof top areas the Flora-Mat can also be installed into many other landscape areas as a drought tolerant planting system.
